IAOP Inducts Two Early Adopters of Outsourcing into Leadership Hall of Fame

As an early adopter of outsourcing starting at Procter & Gamble, Manjit Singh has long used outsourcing to create business advantage in his CIO roles at large companies from The Clorox Company to Chiquita Brands.
Having joined Toyota in June 2018, he is now using his expertise to align the efforts of business operations, strategic planning, and technology to drive business innovation and efficiency for the automaker. As a key part of the information systems leadership team, Singh collaborates with the vice presidents of mobility and connected technology to focus on new business innovation, profitability, mobility and digital transformation at Toyota. Singh also serves on a number of advisory boards to help industry players increase their competitiveness.
In his nearly four years at Clorox, Singh was credited with making the IT department a critical aspect of all business activity. He was awarded 2017 CIO of the Year by Consumer Goods Technology magazine for his work engaging IT to partner with R&D to create the first Internet of Things-enabled device in the water filtration brand’s portfolio, the Brita Infinity Pitcher.
His 20-plus year career also includes CIO stints at Las Vegas Sands, Chiquita Brands and Gillette in Singapore. Additionally, he previously led the industry solutions group at cloud storage provider, Box, Inc. Early in his career, he pioneered P&G’s digital marketing footprint and setting up early e-commerce capabilities.
For his leadership as a buyer of outsourced services for over 20 years, Singh will join the prestigious ranks of the IAOP Leadership Hall of Fame at OWS19. Honorees are selected by IAOP’s Advocacy & Outreach Committee and include buyers, advisors and outsourcing service providers from around the world.
“I am honored to be inducted into the IAOP Leadership Hall of Fame,” said Singh. “I am humbled to be included alongside past recipients as a member of a group of talented individuals that have been recognized for their incredible contributions to both business and our communities.”
Singh is active in engaging his teams to make a difference. His contributions on campaigns like The Clorox Safe Water Project and Brita Canada’s Filter for Good have provided clean water to millions in developing countries.

Singh and Brown will be honored at a luncheon ceremony during the 2019 Outsourcing World Summit in Orlando, Florida.

As one of the outsourcing industry’s early advisors, Dave Brown has earned the trust of clients, service providers and colleagues alike for his expertise steering hundreds of large, complex deals over the past two decades.
He collaborates with clients to create an optimized, sustainable and transformative service delivery model that exploits technological and operational disruptors to meet their business goals.
Brown also understands that outsourcing engagements need to go beyond solely meeting business goals. He says engagements must be structured to positively impact the employees in both customer and provider companies as well as the greater local, regional or global community.
For his outsourcing achievements as well as contributions to community-based economic development and socially directed investments, career development, education and training through outsourcing, IAOP is pleased to induct Brown into the IAOP Leadership Hall of Fame.
“This is one of the highest honors an individual in our industry can receive and I’m truly honored for this induction into IAOP’s Leadership Hall of Fame,” Brown said. “However, I can’t claim this honor alone. It belongs to all the team members I’ve worked with over the years – and for their hard work, passion for, commitment to, and knowledge of how to deliver the results that assist our clients in achieving their goals.”
A member of IAOP’s Strategic Advisory Board, Brown is actively involved in establishing sourcing industry-wide standards for global business services and the use of automation in sourcing engagements. He has authored more than 30 educational thought leadership papers.
Brown joined KPMG in 2011 through its acquisition of EquaTerra. In two years, he traveled 450,020 miles on 137 domestic and 93 international flights, and worked in a different country 32 weeks of both years.
This personal investment helped to ensure the successful integration of the boutique outsourcing advisory firm into KPMG’s Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory (SSOA). Under his leadership, the SSOA practice has grown 350 percent to 1,400-plus advisors, a global footprint of more than 52 countries and a premiere client list that includes 76 percent of the Fortune 500.
Brown actively creates opportunities that help companies and individuals learn more about how outsourcing and global business services (GBS) can impact them. He co-championed the establishment of KPMG’s twice-yearly Women in Shared Services and Outsourcing (WISSO) events. (See related story on Outstanding Women in Leadership, KPMG’s Vicki Phelan).
He also is committed to instilling his passion for helping the less fortunate into his business activities. Among the community service work he has led his global team on include donating 200 trees to the Quitirrisi tribe in the mountains of San Jose, and planting tomatoes and other crops in Madrid, Spain at the Fundacion Trebol, which provides resources and education for people with intellectual disabilities. IAOP’s PULSE Publisher’s Cup golf tournament on Feb. 17 will raise funds for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, a non-profit that Brown and his family are deeply involved in supporting.
